The first place I went to was just at the beginning of Nichols Arboretum. This area was vast and included an array of trees and plants. Within these photos I wanted the photo to be simple and off the walls. In fact, my main mission was to make the reader wonder. Also, my goal was to depict the beauty of fall. Many don't appreciate this amazing season. Furthermore, my overall composition in both photos was so you could see all of the plants within the Arboretum. I wasn't trying to limit the amount of area I could capture within these photos.
As I moved throughout the area I soon found amazing plants and trees. These were particularly apparent within my next set of photos. Within "Mountain Mist" and "Beauty," I used the red tree within the Arb as the focus. Even in Mountain Mist, the red tree provides some color to the simple green. This choice had me composing my photo with good lighting. Within both photos I wanted to convey the minimalist beauty within nature. I wanted the audience to feel solemn and reminiscent of this beauty.
It was soon after this that I found the plants I would soon photograph. The berries in my photos blood red and serenity are really peaceful. I made sure to keep the sky within the photos because that is part of the calming vibe. As well, I would hope this would just make the audience feel peaceful. The main issue I had with these is a lot of the berries were falling off due to the harsh winds. However, thankfully I was able to compose these photos prior to losing a large amount the berries.
After this I began to walk back through a different route that I came. It was in this instance that I saw these red flowers. I felt the red was very deep, and almost scandalous. Within the photos I focused on the depth of the red to have a very intense vibe. Adding on, I also distorted one of the photos to keep a more interesting vibe. I want the audience to look at this and think of intensity and beauty. I chose the compositions I did because I wanted to focus on this big red plant and highlight what inspired me.
Finally as I walking towards the exit of Nichols Arboretum, I came across this secluded path. As I was walking, I soon got very scared as there was a deer standing very close to me. I didn't notice the animal, but he/she is in one of my photos. Within these photos I want the audience to feel free. The lighting and composition of this photo is all about how vast nature is. Therefore, I would want the audience to relate to that and relate it to their own personal freedom.
